Blake Street Studios Closed!!
As of January 1, 2015, the Blake Street Studios permanently closed it's doors. The owner of City Market ended all leases and all of the tenants at Blake Street have relocated. Victoria will miss running her gallery as it gave her a space to show the variety of her inventory, to visit with folks from all over the state, the country, as well as from all over the world, and to use the space for teaching others.
Victoria Powers Studio Ten has relocated her creative working space, her inventory and her teaching activities to her home studio in Northwest Raleigh, and has begun exhibiting her work out and about in the community!
She has several shows already lined up for 2015 among of which are a solo show of her handmade paper collages at the Garner Performing Arts Center in March and April, and one at Hager Smith Designs of abstract images of her down comforter in her "Southern Comforter" series, during January and February. She will be featured as a Loft artist at the Round About collective on Oberlin Road in April, May and June, showing her recent foil relief etchings! Her impressionistic oils on canvas works will also be shown at a studio in the Carter Building on Glenwood Ave., Raleigh in October. Her student art camper works will be shown during the month of August at the same location.
To learn more about the studio closing, please check out this article in the Raleigh News and Observer where Victoria was interviewed and the article released on New Year's Day, 2015. http://www.newsobserver.com/2014/12/31/4441718/blake-street-shops-and-studios.html
